“We are seeing a rise in more overseas architects and interior designers being used in London projects. It seems more than ever, developers are keen to distinguish their designs and are more confident to use new consultants who have no exposure to the London residential market.
2017 Interior highlights have been a huge revival in strong colours and textures, designers are moving away from neutral palates and incorporating bold wallpapers and colour themes. Look at the revival of De Gournay prints, even collaborating with Aquazzura launching a line of their iconic print on shoes this year! Last year’s light grey is this year’s blush pink. Plain marbles are being replaced with bolder materials such as bright terrazzo or darker herringbone timber and the minimalist kitchen is being traded for stronger mixed material designs. With the significance of wellness continuing to surge, nature has played a big part of interiors this year. From large indoor plants used as centrepieces, to deep greens and botanical prints, we see this trend growing next year. In terms of technology, whilst internet-run home systems are still on the rise, the aesthetic is becoming more refined with increasingly camouflaged technology.”
